Early morning and evening sessions are available. Everything possible is done to accommodate the needs of working adults in order to access care in a convenient and confidential manner.
We are open Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm with Tuesday hours extending to 6:00 pm.
The Lax Center allows same-day scheduling as well as walk-ins for sick visits, while those who are able to adhere to appointments are encouraged to do so.
Our walk-in hours for sick patients are 9-11 am and 1-3 pm (Monday-Friday).
If you are a patient of the Lax Center or Clinica Bienestar and have an urgent medical question that cannot wait until the next business day, you can reach our after-hours line by calling 215-790-1788. A clinician (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant) is available on call to address your needs.
In rare instances, the Lax Center might need to close at the last minute (example: weather). We try our best to call all patients as soon as we become aware but in addition we will always post this information on the main FIGHT number (215-985-4448), all health center numbers and our website. So if you are unsure, feel free to call ahead of time before coming down.
We are located on the 4th floor of 1233 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, on the corner of 13th Street and Locust Street. We are easily accessible via the Broad Street Line (City Hall stop) and the Market Frankford Line (13th Street stop). Just about any bus that travels near City Hall will get you to our practice. Use Google maps to find out how to get to us using public transportation. If you would choose to drive here we recommend leaving plenty of time in case of traffic or parking issues.
Blood work will be done on site by our experienced and friendly laboratory technician. The lab is open for all scheduled medical visits. Laboratory hours for walk in labs are Monday through Friday 9-11:30 am and 1:30-3:30 pm.
Rapid testing for HIV is available to partners of our clients; results are available in 20 minutes.
Philadelphia FIGHT has agreements with most major insurance companies. For those without insurance we are required by law to ask for payment according to a sliding fee scale but we will not deny any services based on your ability to pay. We also have a team that will work to get you health insurance coverage. This is critical because even if we see you, many specialists will only see patients with insurance and many medications are too expensive to afford without insurance.

If you are calling to renew a referral that is less than 2 years old or to request a new referral for an issue you have already discussed with your medical provider, leave us a message. If you are requesting a new referral for any other issue, please schedule a visit to see your medical provider.
