In October, the Institute for Community Justice hosted a Resource Fair/Record Cleaning Event at the Church of the Advocate in North Philadelphia. In partnership with Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity and the 21st & Norris Street Community Committee, and funded by the Promise Grant, dozens of individuals received criminal record reviews. Twenty-six vendors provided social services, reentry services, career services, free phones (based on eligibility), and employment information to the 150 attendees seeking support.
ICJ collaborated with the Wells Fargo Center to host a recruitment event – providing job information for participants with employment challenges during reentry. Employment opportunities were explained, and attendees were able to submit applications. This initiative will be ongoing.
