Karam Mounzer, MD
Karam Mounzer, MD joined Philadelphia FIGHT in 2000. He is the Chief Scientific Officer and Medical Director at Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers, Medical Director of the Jonathan Lax Treatment Center, and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mounzer earned his medical degree from Saint Joseph University in Beirut and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
His research focuses on HIV treatment and prevention, and he has served as Principal Investigator on over 100 clinical trials, including a groundbreaking study examining twice-yearly injectable PrEP. Through his long-standing collaboration with the Wistar Institute, he has contributed to advancing our understanding of the immune system’s role in controlling HIV and HCV. He is a member of the American Academy
of HIV Medicine and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Dr. Mounzer is a reviewer for several medical journals, a speaker at national and international meetings, and he has co-authored more than
100 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Jay Kostman, MD
Jay Kostman, MD has been providing care to individuals living with HIV in Philadelphia since 1988. Dr. Kostman received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree from Yale University. After completing his Internal Medicine residency and Chief residency at Temple University Hospital, he completed his Infectious Diseases fellowship at Temple as well. He subsequently was on the faculty at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden and Temple University Hospital in the Division of Infectious Diseases before becoming the Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
At that time, he was also the Medical Director at Philadelphia FIGHT where he was the Principal Investigator of the FIGHT site of the Community Programs on Clinical Research of AIDS and the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AMFAR) site in the Community Based Clinical Trials Network. He subsequently joined Philadelphia FIGHT as the Medical Director of the John Bell Health Center in 2015 and became the Chief Medical Officer of Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers in 2024. Dr. Kostman has been the recipient of the Mazzoni Award and the CFAR Red Ribbon Award.

Lisa Knoflicek, MD
Lisa Knoflicek, MD, NABBLM-C, Assistant Medical Director of FIGHT’s Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center and Y-HEP Adolescent and Young Adult Health Center, joined FIGHT in 2018. Dr. Knoflicek is board certified in both pediatrics and lactation medicine. She previously worked for 12 years caring for children and families at a federally qualified health center in Camden, New Jersey, where she served as the Pediatric Medical Director.
Dr. Knoflicek completed her undergraduate degree at Bowdoin College and earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University. She was awarded the Amos Christie Award for excellent pediatric care. She completed her Pediatrics residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. While at CHOP, she was a leader in the Homeless Health Initiative and received the Outstanding Advocate Achievement Award
from the Community Pediatrics and Advocacy Program.
Dr. Knoflicek is a dedicated breastfeeding advocate and uses her experience and knowledge to help families achieve their breastfeeding goals. In 2019, she became an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. In 2023, she was among the first group of physicians to become board certified in breastfeeding and lactation medicine.
