FIGHT’s education-packed AIDS Education Month featured 9 major events, including our 3 signature summits:

  • Beyond the Walls: Prison Healthcare and Reentry Summit,
  • the Faith Leaders and Community Summit, and
  • End AIDS: The HIV Prevention and Outreach Summit.

All together, the summits offered roughly 100 workshops and reached about 2,500 people!

Pennsylvania’s Physician General, Dr. Rachel Levine, served as AEM 2016’s Honorary Chairperson. Dr. Levine was joined by co-chairs, Rebecca Alvarez and Reverend Jay Broadnax. Alvarez is a local, LCSW private practitioner and Broadnax serves as the 1st Episcopal District Chairman of Christian Education in The AME Church.

We were able to educate and test over 1000 youth about HIV/AIDS during our Hip Hop for Philly programming, which culminated in a concert starring local sensation PnB Rock and “America’s Got Talent” breakout group Good Girl. Our youth audience members were wowed by each performance, making this the best received Hip-Hop for Philly concert yet!

JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise rocked a packed audience at this year’s Gospel Concert. The audience was inspiring and energizing, spending more time on their feet than in their seats! A few lucky audience members won tickets to meet JJ backstage and grab a few photos with the singer!

Keep your eyes peeled this winter for information about AEM 2017!
