Location

We are located on the 5th floor of 1207 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, near the corner of 12th Street and Chestnut Street. We are easily accessible via the Broad Street Line (City Hall stop) and the Market Frankford Line (13th Street stop). Just about any bus that travels near City Hall will get you to our practice. Downtown parking can be a challenge! Consider using the “Parkmobile” app if you park on the street. If parking in a lot you should consider using the “SpotHero” app, which will help you find the best price on a parking lot.

Insurance

Philadelphia FIGHT has agreements with most major insurance companies. For those without insurance we are required to ask for payment according to a sliding fee scale. We will never reject patients for inability to pay. If needed, we have benefits coordinators who can support you with your application for health insurance.

Vaccines

We believe that all patients should receive vaccines according to the schedule provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Vaccines are safe, they are effective, and they save lives. Vaccines not only protect you but they protect others in the community who are too weak, small or sick to protect themselves from dangerous infections. We vaccinate at every opportunity (during wellness visits, sick visits and lab visits).

Parents who choose not to vaccinate their children are welcome and will feel respected in our space. We will spend the time that is needed to address all vaccine-related concerns and will offer catch up vaccines at each visit. Over time, through the development of a therapeutic relationship with our medical team, our experience has been that most vaccine hesitant families will eventually vaccinate their children.

Sick Visits

If you are having a medical emergency please go to the closest emergency room or call 911. However, if you are sick, and it is not an emergency, please call us at 215-525-8600 (pediatrics) or 215-344-1632 (YHEP). We are available 24 hours a day to answer questions about your sick child. You can also schedule online at www.fight.org/pediatrics/schedule (pediatrics) or www.fight.org/yhep/schedule (YHEP).

If you call after-hours or on the weekends just listen to the voicemail and at the very end you will be automatically connected with a nurse who will handle your phone call. If they are unable to handle your situation they will notify one of our medical providers who are on call 24 hours a day, even on weekends and holidays. Remember, if it is NOT an emergency and your child is sick please CALL US FIRST before going to an emergency department or an urgent care center. Many times we can handle your issue over the telephone, which will save you time and stress.

Walk-in Visits

We will accept patients on a walk-in basis, however they must be already established as patients in our practice. Our walk-in hours are 9-10:30 am and 1-3 pm (Monday-Friday). These appointments are meant for patients with urgent needs, not for routine wellness visits. We only accept a few walk-in patients per day so if you walk-in and we are completely booked there is a possibility that we might not be able to see you. The best way to guarantee an appointment is to schedule a visit.

Gender Affirming Care

We believe that everyone deserves to feel affirmed in their gender identity. Our team will collaborate with patients (and their families – in the case of minors) to help gender-expansive individuals understand their options for care. This includes supporting our patients through social transition, legal transition, and medical transition (including gender affirming hormone therapy). We can also support children and young teenagers through the process of puberty blockade. Parents of gender-expansive children may learn more about how to support their children here.

Family Planning – Contraception

Patients at Philadelphia FIGHT have access to a range of pregnancy prevention options. Condoms, pills, patches, injections, and implants are all available. We will also help you decrease your risk for an unexpected pregnancy by teaching you more about your body and dispelling myths about how people get pregnant. You can learn more about these options from our Family Planning and Contraception Education Page.

PrEP and PEP (HIV prevention)

We offer easy access to a range of HIV prevention options, including pills that can be taken by mouth (Truvada or Descovy), as well as injectable PrEP (Apretude). In order to make sure that you are a good candidate for PrEP and that it is safe for you to take, we will do a basic physical, ask about your medical history, and draw some basic lab work. In many cases we can start you on PrEP in your first visit with us (“same day start”). If you are interested in PrEP you can schedule an appointment with us and we can tell you all about it!  You can also learn more about PrEP from our PrEP Website.
