Event Description

In this presentation, we will discuss how difficult or painful experiences, such as losing a loved one or significant life changes, can be used as a catalyst for personal growth and positive change. The presentation will cover topics such as resilience, self-discovery, and finding meaning in adversity.

Objectives

  1. Educate individuals about the importance of finding purpose and meaning in their lives, particularly in the face of HIV which can be emotionally and physically challenging
  2. Impacts of grief and loss
  3. Ways to cope with the grief and loss

Speakers

Armina N. Domingue, MSW, LMSW

Armina loves God and anything related to the Kingdom! She is a native New Yorker, who loves helping people draw on their strengths to live purposefully, and a joy-filled life. Her mantra over the years has been: “Only when there is understanding, can true healing begin.” Over the past 20 years, she has served in compacities such as therapist, program manager, clinical director, supervisor, and coach for many clinicians in the counseling field. 

She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Adelphi’s University in Garden City, NY in 2002. Armina’s clients include children, adolescents, families and adults. She has extensive training in treating childhood trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, those who suffer with Anxiety and Depression. 

Armina supports trauma recovery for better emotional, physical and relationship health. She has worked in community mental health settings, school social work, child and family agencies, mental health advocacy organizations, managed care, and private practice. 

She utilizes a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychoeducation, Play Therapy, Behavior Modification, mindfulness and relaxation. 

Armina believes in creating a working partnership with clients, utilizing their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. She also realizes how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being including their physical health, support systems (family, friends), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process. 

Armina is married to Evince Domingue and together they have 2 children Elijah-12 and Emmye 5. She attends Germantown SDA Church and is the Family Life Leader there. 

Brandy Walker, LPC, NCC

Brandy Walker is a Licensed Professional of Clinical Mental Health (LPCMH), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Founder and CEO of Resilient Soul LLC; a private practice providing mental health services. She has a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health from Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Delaware State University. She has worked in the mental health field for over 10 years and provided clinical counseling for over 8 years. She was appointed by City of Dover Mayor, Robin Christiansen, to serve as a Commissioner for the City of Dover, Delaware’s Ethic’s Commission. She was appointed by Delaware’s Governor, John Carney, as a Professional Member to serve on The Board of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Professionals. She was a 2022 honoree for Delaware Business Times’ 40 under 40 and Delaware Today’s Women in Business.

 
Stacey Heath, LSW

Azulay Consulting Group

Stacey has over 10 years of nonprofit management experience and an additional decade of community-based social service experience. She has dedicated her career to the mental health, substance use, and HIV/AIDS communities with a primary focus on serving families, at-risk youth, and single adults. Stacey has a developed, managed, and administered supportive housing programs in both congregate and scattered-site settings, as well as managed all operational components of these complex projects.
