We are excited to offer the following services in the Critical Path Learning Center:
Health Resources Library
The AIDS Library collection has expanded to include a wide variety of consumer health resources on topics such as: HIV, hepatitis C, diabetes, heart health, spiritual growth and wellness, nutrition across the life-span, and much more. All of our materials can be enjoyed in house, and we have many health-related pamphlets and magazines available for free. Workshops and public programming cover health and wellness topics including: how to find reliable health information online, mobile apps for health and wellness, and stress management.
Technology
As a KEYSPOT site, we provide free access to technology and the internet during our open access hours including desktop computer workstations and iPad/tablet stations. For individuals bringing their own mobile technology, we have free wifi and charging stations. Our suite of digital literacy classes and workshop series are designed to provide computer basics for new learners and more advanced skills for those ready to take the next step. Drop in for a single workshop or enroll in a longer course.
Adult Education
Our Adult Education Instruction includes Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED preparation, as well as digital literacy courses ranging from basic computing to proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and social media. All classes offered by the Learning Center are designed to meet adult learners where they are at, and to provide them with tech skills that support their goals. Our courses are small, student-focused, and provide authentic learning opportunities that draw on participants’ own expertise and life experience. Each learner has the opportunity to access one-on-one support and case management to help them reach their educational goals.
Employment Services
For individuals looking for new job opportunities or those wishing to build their workforce-ready skills, we provide individualized resume and job search support, digital literacy courses, and job readiness workshops. Through a partnership with District 1199c, we offer an intensive 8 week Workforce Development course for job seekers who want support building those critical “soft skills” employers are seeking. We specialize in working with individuals with limited employment history or long stretches of unemployment to meet their employment and career goals.
Hospitality and Support Services
In order to ensure that all individuals are able to take advantage of the variety of formal and informal learning opportunities at the Critical Path Learning Center, we offer a full suite of wrap around services including case management, amenity kits, a clothing closet with casual and dress options, and laundry services.
