About Sarah Smith

Sarah E. Smith, PA-C, MHS, AAHIVS is the Administrative Director and Research Supervisor at the Jonathan Lax Treatment Center. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Ursinus College in 2002 and received her medical training from Drexel University while completing a Master’s in Health Science in 2005.

Sarah is a board-certified Physician Assistant with specialty training in HIV.  She has been working in the field of HIV for the last 10 years and concentrates on caring for those recently released from jail or prison.  She provides HIV, primary, hepatitis C (HCV), and gynecological care to a large number of HIV patients.  She is also certified by The American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) as an HIV Specialist. Additionally, Sarah is a sub-investigator on numerous clinical trials studying new HIV and HCV treatments.

In 2012, she received a certification in Herbal Medicine from the Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences.

Sarah is an active member in the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants (PSPA).   She also heads all quality assurance activities for the Lax Center.
