Clinical Expertise

Lizzy loves teaching, and while at the Drexel Partnership Practice she enjoyed training primary care providers how to care with people with HIV. She continues to teach HIV 101 to AACO case managers. Lizzy has returned to the Philadelphia FIGHT to lead the Lax Center Women’s Program with her wonderful team of colleagues.

Education & Training

She studied Sociology at Bryn Mawr College and became a women’s health activist at the Elizabeth Blackwell Heath Center. Lizzy worked as an HIV test counselor at The North East Treatment Center in the early 1990’s and returned to nursing school to learn how to help people with HIV stay healthy. In 1997 she received a Master’s from The University of Pennsylvania and became a Nurse Practitioner at Philadelphia FIGHT.

Spotlight On

Karam Mounzer, MD

Dr. Mounzer identified two major gaps in the care of patients with HIV/hepatitis C (HCV) co-infection, and the complexity of multidrug-resistant HIV treatment. He is involved with many clinical trials focusing on drug development and better understanding of HIV immunopathogenesis with the Wistar Institute. He is involved in teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and students.

Dr. Mario Cruz

Dr. Cruz is a board certified pediatrician who joins Philadelphia FIGHT as the Medical Director for our Pediatrics and Adolescent Health Center. He completed his undergraduate training in Biology and Psychology from Union College, his medical school training at Albany Medical College, his residency training at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and his Chief Residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center
