About Franziska Ringpfeil

Dr. Ringpfeil is a local expert in gender affirming dermatological care, cosmetic and pediatric dermatology. She graduated from medical school at Henrich Heine University in Duesseldorf, Germany, trained in dermatology there and at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, and worked at Jefferson for 11 years. She then opened offices in Center City and Haverford while maintaining her faculty position as assistant professor of dermatology at Jefferson.

She has authored numerous scientific papers in major professional journals, authored and co-authored several chapters in the leading textbooks for dermatology, and has lectured both nationally and internationally. She received multiple awards for her research in genetic skin diseases. Dr. Ringpfeil is on the expert panel of F.I.R.S.T. (Foundation for ichthyosis and related disorders) and she is a member on the advisory board for NAPE (National Association for Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum). She regularly teaches other dermatologists, dermatology residents, pre-med students, and physician assistant students.  She is a passionate supporter of Camp Discovery, a week long summer camp for kids with severe skin disease held currently at 5 locations nationwide.

Having worked at Cabrini Medical Center in New York City in 1995 and 1996 during the AIDS crisis and at Temple’s children hospital in North Philadelphia until it closed in 2007, she feels that there is an unmet need to serve those who struggle with access to healthcare. Hence, she is very excited to bring her expertise to Philadelphia FIGHT.
