Speakers

Dr. Mark Watkins, MD, Mazzoni Health Center

Dr. Watkins is an experienced and much admired practitioner of family medicine with special expertise in caring for people with HIV and LGBT individuals. Dr. Watkins has practiced family medicine for more than 25 years and currently has an active patient base of over 1,700 individuals. A Philadelphia native, he complete his undergraduate studies at Ursinus College, earned his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 1986, and completed his residency in 1989 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital/PCOM. In 2016, Dr. Watkins joined the Mazzoni Center and their family medical practice sees approximately 25,000 patient visits a year, and is the primary care home to over 11,000 individuals.

Spotlight On

Karam Mounzer, MD

Dr. Mounzer identified two major gaps in the care of patients with HIV/hepatitis C (HCV) co-infection, and the complexity of multidrug-resistant HIV treatment. He is involved with many clinical trials focusing on drug development and better understanding of HIV immunopathogenesis with the Wistar Institute. He is involved in teaching and mentoring.

Dr. Mario Cruz

Dr. Mario CruzDr. Cruz is a board certified pediatrician who serves as the Medical Director for our Pediatrics and Adolescent Health Center. He has presented and/or published in the fields of community violence and domestic violence prevention, quality improvement, behavioral health, curriculum development and mentorship. In 2019 he received the Greater Philadelphia Social Innovation Award for Innovations in Healthcare.
