Dr. Craig A. Smith
Dr. Craig A. Smith is the Founder and Executive Director of Fostering Success Boys to Men, Inc. and Co-Founder of Student Management K-12, LLC, an educational consulting company. He holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University, Master’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Gifted and passionate to work with youth and young adults, his ability to connect with individuals and build solid relationships has truly been impactful in his work.
As a seasoned educator, Dr. Smith has worked in a host of educational institutions. He has worked as an adjunct instructor for several local colleges and universities teaching on the topics of Adolescent Development, Abnormal psychology, Personality Assessment, Leadership Development and the First Year Experience. He currently serves as the Director of Student Retention and Success and the Scholars ACT 101 program at Montgomery County Community College where he utilizes his academic and personal experiences to impact change.
With over 15 years of direct experience providing access and opportunity to the disadvantaged, he wholeheartedly understands the plight of today’s youth. His professional work as a counselor, adjunct faculty member and mental health professional has grounded his work in the field. More recently his role as a foster parent has equipped him with the skills necessary to reach the challenged youth of today on a deeper level.
Dr. Smith has a special interest in African American males and their success. His academic research focuses on African American male persistence and motivation. His civic responsibilities are directly tied to work with at risk males. This work includes affiliations with: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, the Strawberry Mansion Learning Center, Community Bible Deliverance Kingdom Ministries, Carson Valley Children’s Aid and the Mayor’s Commission on Black Male Engagement.
Life’s challenges and experiences helped to shape the purpose and passion that compels the work. Having personally lived and survived many of the challenges our youth face today, his story is one of triumph, victory and success. A motivational speaker by nature, this gift has afforded Dr. Smith a host of opportunities to share his passion and gift with others. He has been a key note speaker, subject matter panelist, conference presenter and consultant for a host of non-profit agencies. All of this rich experience has empowered him to be the present day change agent focused on fostering success!
