We at FIGHT, like you, are horrified and disturbed by the painful events happening around our country. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many people deeply affected by the tragic incidents of this past week and the many incidents that have gone before. As Dr. King stated, let’s try our hardest to let love to drive out hate. Black lives do matter. Let us resolve to collectively seek out and ask for policy changes that make that statement a reality for everyone.
Recently two FIGHT staff members, Tiffany Hall and Akia Feggans, wrote an article for Newsworks. Their message is, don’t be afraid to seek appropriate care during these very troubling and confusing times. Have conversations, step away from media and social media if needed, and allow yourself the space to grieve. Check out their other tips via the link below.

Thank you to our sponsors, guests and staff who made FIGHT’s 25th Anniversary Gala our largest and most successful fundraising event yet. Over 400 people in attendance celebrated over cocktails, listened to an impassioned speech by our Lifetime Achievement Awardee Olympian and LGBT and AIDS Activist Greg Louganis, and danced the night away to the sounds of DJ Craig Dash. We’re proud to announce that we have raised over $125,000. The proceeds will support FIGHT’s HIV primary medical care at the Jonathan Lax Treatment Center and primary care for youth and adults at very high risk of acquiring HIV at the Y-HEP (Youth Health Empowerment Project) and John Bell Health Centers.
There was record attendance at our Seventh Annual World AIDS Day Prayer Breakfast! Over 250 people convened at the Doubletree Hotel to remember those who have passed and those who are still with us. We recommitted to standing with our sisters and brothers in faith, in activism, in reducing stigma, and in enduring love. Rev. Dr. Wayne E. Croft, Sr., Senior Pastor of the St. Paul’s Baptist Church in West Chester, PA, was this year’s featured keynote speaker.
The World AIDS Day Prayer Breakfast was covered on NBC10, FOX29, and 6ABC.
Interested in learning about PrEP, a pill that is almost 100% effective in preventing HIV if taken daily? Join us for an interactive discussion on PrEP at the William Way LGBT Community Center on Thursday, October 29th from 6 – 8 p.m. The event will be hosted by State Representative Brian Sims and will include a presentation from Dr. Helen Koenig, the Medical Director of FIGHT’s PrEP Program, and Caitlin Conyngham, FIGHT’s Director of PrEP Programs. To RSVP, e-mail Mike Marsico at email@example.com.
Thank you, Team Philadelphia FIGHT for helping us kick off our 25th Anniversary Celebration at this year’s AIDS Walk Philly. It was cold; it was early; but we did it! We raised over $13,000 which will go directly toward creating more services for people living with HIV and those at high risk. Thanks for your support!
