TREE IOP/OP

What Is TREE?

TEACH Recovery, Education and Empowerment is a holistic, recovery-oriented program for people living with HIV/AIDS whose alcohol or drug abuse is getting in the way of being healthy and staying out of jail, creating feelings of guilt, sickness, and tiredness, or making other people upset or worried.

TREE is about learning to either reduce or stop harmful substance abuse by having fun, learning other ways to handle bad feelings and situations, setting goals and meeting them, managing substance triggers, exploring spirituality and building healthy relationships.

TREE is intensive – it provides a minimum of 5 and up to 10 hours per week of clinical programming over 3 days PLUS optional programming over 5 days per week. TREE staff practice empirically-based approaches including CBT, 12 Step Facilitation, and harm-reduction.

TREE IOP groups are offered 3 times per week in the afternoon with individual, family or couples sessions scheduled for your convenience. TREE Program members also have access to fun activities within the program such as planning personal storytelling, mindfulness meditation & relaxation training, health for life, field trips, service opportunities to give back & Friday movie day. TREE members can also participate in other coordinated FIGHT programs such as Project TEACH, Still Rising- FIGHT’s Program for Women, spiritual counseling, computer classes for beginners and advanced skills, GED classes, yoga, and other support groups.
