Let’s celebrate the start of AIDS Education Month! Please join us for hors d’oeuvres, great conversation, and the presentation of the annual Kiyoshi Kuromiya awards!
This year Philadelphia FIGHT chooses to honor the 10th Anniversary of the death of Kiyoshi Kuromiya by selecting individuals who stood alongside Kiyoshi while he was alive and fought for People Living with HIV and have become leaders in the fight for those living with HIV in the work they do now. The 2010 recipients are:
Julie Davids, founder of CHAMP for her continued work on the national level to advocate for prevention and treatment justice.
Asia Russell, one of the founders of Health GAP, for her continued work on the International level to demand access to treatment for PWA around the globe.
David Acosta, of AACO, for his continuing role at the local level to advocate for PWAs and in particular his work with the latino and LGBTQ communities to address stigma.
Roy Hayes, for his continuing role as a leader in ACT UP and as a mentor to people living with HIV to become advocates and activists.

This is a annual family-friendly event with a live DJ, information tabling, games and lots of great food including burgers and hotdogs, ribs and chicken, Philly soft pretzels and water ice!
The intent of this yearly event is to bring HIV support groups and community members in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas together.
Come and enjoy an HIV speaker jam, sports and card games, dancing, and more! Over 250 people attended the 2009 event.

Mark Harrington, Executive Director of the Treatment Action Group, will discuss the future of HIV Treatment and Science
Che Gossett, from the University of Pennsylvania, will discuss the future of Gay Rights.
Beth McConnell, Executive Director of the Media and Democracy Coalition, will discuss the future of access to technology and freedom of information.
Join us to learn about the progress on these issues since Kiyoshi’s death and what work still needs to be done in the next 10 years.

Beyond the Walls: Prison Health Care & Reentry Summit will bring together former prisoners, advocacy organizations, faith based organizations, healthcare providers, activists, re-entry programs, parole/probation officers, and prison staff. In its fourth year, we have designed the summit to bring together youth and adults from all sections of the city. The primary goal of the Youth Outreach, Educational, and Empowerment Summit is to engage and educate youth about issues that impact them today with workshops about Sexual
HIV and STD testing will be available during this day. While at the summit, youth and adults will have the opportunity to meet other youth and organizations that are a part of the social change, participate in workshops, gather information, connect with others, and learn more about issues that impact youth in 2010.
Youth Outreach Education and Empowerment Summit is designed the summit to bring together youth and adults from all sections of the city. The primary goal of the Summit is to engage and educate youth about issues that impact them today.
