The West Philadelphia native has been serving Philadelphia in a variety of capacities for years. From his ten year term as Philadelphia’s Assistant District Attorney, to making city and statewide history at the polls, Williams’ commitment to improving the lives of Philadelphians is clear. And what’s more, he is not only the first African American District Attorney in Philadelphia, but is the first in the entire commonwealth of Pennsylvania!
AEM Co-Chair: Elicia Gonzales, Executive Director, GALAEI
Gonzales is a longtime advocate for the sexual health of community members both in Philadelphia and in her native Colorado. She is a founding board member of the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights, was the Manager of the HIV/AIDS prevention and education agency The Collective, and has most recently been serving as the Executive Director of GALAEI. Since 1989, GALAEI has been the sole HIV/AIDS education program in Pennsylvania whose main mission is to address the needs of Latino sexual minorities.
AEM Co-Chair: Bruce Herdman, Ph.D, Chief of Medical Operations at Philadelphia Prison Systems
Dr. Herdman’s career in health care administration in Philadelphia includes service in many organizations. He was Executive Director of the Mayor’s Commission on Health, Senior Vice President for Psychiatric Services at Pennsylvania Hospital, and was the Vice President of Provider Network Management at Keystone Mercy Health Plan to name a few. In 2006, he became Chief of Medical Operations at Philadelphia Prison Systems.
